GaadiWaadi –

Tata Curvv will be introduced in the second or third quarter of this CY while the electric version of the Harrier will be launched before end-2024

Tata Motors has already revealed the launch timeframe of the electrified Curvv and the Harrier EV. The Curvv will be the only brand new nameplate introduced by the brand this calendar year. The Punch EV arrived last week and is positioned below the Nexon EV in the company’s ever-expanding EV lineup while the forthcoming Curvv and Harrier EV will be slotted above it.

The Tata Curvv will be made available in electric and IC-engined guises with the former arriving first. The midsize SUV coupe will be introduced in the second or third quarter of this CY while the electric version of the Harrier will be launched before the end of this year. The ICE variant of the Curvv is also planned to arrive in 2024.

The launch timeline has been confirmed by Tata Motors’ Managing Director, Shailesh Chandra, who also noted that the production of zero-emission vehicles in the ex-Ford Sanand plant will commence at the start of the next financial year. The best-selling passenger EV in the country, the Tata Nexon EV, will be the first one to hit the assembly lines.

It has been a year since the homegrown manufacturer bought the Gujarat facility from Ford following the American brand’s decision to quit sales operations in India. The production of the IC-engined Tata Nexon has already begun there and the factory has an installed capacity of three lakh units per year, which can be further expanded.

Chandra stated the importance of extending FAME subsidies for EVs to speed up the growth and his brand is also aiming to outgrow the industry with the arrival of new products. The Tata Curvv EV will compete with the upcoming Maruti Suzuki eVX, Hyundai Creta EV, Mahindra XUV.e8, Citroen eC3 Aircross and Honda Elevate-based EV amongst others.
