Shaolin martial arts – a cornerstone of Chinese martial culture – originated at Shaolin Temple, where monks have possessed legendary skills for centuries. The temple’s Western Saints Hall has 48 foot impressions, each 10 to 20 centimeters deep. Created, so legend has it, by generations of martial monks practicing their craft, these indentations serve as tangible evidence of their year-round dedication.
