With the arrival of winter, animals in parks across China take advantage of sunny days to enjoy some warm sunshine. Meerkats are among them. A group of meerkats in the Chishan Lake National Wetland Park located at the border of Jiangsu and Anhui provinces, recently basked in sunlight. Their adorable postures attracted the attention of many tourists.
Meerkats, also known as suricates, are members of the mongoose family native to the southern African plains. These squirrel-sized meerkats are known for their sentinel behavior. They often stand on their rear legs and gaze alertly over the places where they live.
