Cameroon international Bryan Mbeumo has officially joined Manchester United from Brentford, signing a contract until 2030 with an option for an additional year.
The 25-year-old winger revealed on Monday that he “grew up wearing” the United shirt, describing the move as a dream come true.
Mbeumo, who scored 20 goals in 38 Premier League appearances last season, will reportedly cost United an initial £65 million ($87 million), with a further £6 million in potential add-ons.
The deal, United’s third bid for the player, was accepted last week.
“As soon as I knew there was a chance to join Manchester United, I had to take the opportunity to sign for the club of my dreams,” Mbeumo said in a statement released by the club.
“The team whose shirt I wore growing up.”
Mbeumo will be donning the No.19 for United this upcoming season.
Amorim Rebuilding After Disastrous Season
United head coach Ruben Amorim has already brought in two other signings this summer in an effort to rebound from last season’s disastrous campaign.
The club finished 15th in the Premier League—their lowest position since the 1973–74 season—and were beaten by Tottenham in the Europa League final.
Joining Mbeumo at Old Trafford are Wolves forward Matheus Cunha and 18-year-old Paraguayan defender Diego Leon.
United struggled offensively last season, with forwards Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee failing to deliver consistent performances.
Mbeumo, however, is confident in his ability to contribute immediately.
“My mentality is to always be better than I was yesterday,” said Mbeumo.
“I know that I have the spirit and character to reach another level here, learning from Ruben Amorim and playing alongside world-class players.”
Mbeumo, who joined the Bees in 2019, enjoyed a highly productive six-year spell at Brentford, scoring 70 goals and providing 51 assists in 242 appearances across all competitions.
Mbeumo played a key role in Brentford’s promotion to the Premier League in 2021 and was instrumental in their strong 10th-place finish in the 2024–25 campaign.
