Kawasaki W175 Street derives power from a 177 cc air-cooled single-cylinder FI engine producing 13 bhp and 13.2 Nm of peak torque

India Kawasaki Motors has today launched a variant of its budget-friendly motorcycle, the W175. Dubbed the Kawasaki W175 Street, it is priced at Rs 1.35 lakh (ex-showroom), making it Rs 12,000 cheaper than the regular W175 but with added features to make it slightly more attractive. Unchanged is the 177 cc air-cooled single-cylinder FI engine.

The powertrain produces a maximum power output of 13 bhp at 7,000 rpm and 13.2 Nm of peak torque at 6,000 rpm. It is paired with a five-speed gearbox. The motorcycle retains its minimalist features list which includes a pretty basic halogen headlight with chrome bezels and a semi-digital instrument console. The Japanese manufacturer has noted that the pricing is introductory and its bookings will open soon.

The delivery timeline has been revealed to be this month itself. The notable modification in the Kawasaki W175 Street is the inclusion of alloy wheels, resulting in the use of tubeless tyres at the front and rear. The regular W175 retro motorcycle only runs on wire-spoke wheels wrapped in tubed rubber and in case of a puncture, it could be bothersome.

The addition of alloy wheels and tubeless tyres will bring a shy of relief for anyone wanting to buy the most affordable motorcycle from Kawasaki in India. The tyre sizes remain the same as 80/100-17 front and 100/90-17 rear can be seen. The motorcycle has been made available in two new paint schemes namely Candy Emerald Green and Metallic Moondust Grey.

Underpinned by the same semi double cradle frame, the Kawasaki W175 Street boasts changes to dimensions as it has a seat height of 786.5 mm, ground clearance of 152 mm and an altered wheelbase. The braking duties are handled by a 245 mm disc at the front, assisted by a dual-channel ABS while telescopic front forks and twin-sided shock absorbers do the suspension duties.

The retro-themed motorcycle is manufactured in India and it has been revealed at the India Bike Week 2023, which kicked off today in Goa as spectators have gathered around to witness the unveil of the new variant.
