4 New Maruti Suzuki Electric Cars Confirmed For India – Key Details

Maruti Suzuki is finally stepping into the EV segment and it will have as many as four electric cars in India by 2030

We earlier told you that Maruti Suzuki will launch six electric cars in the Indian market by 2031. However, according to a latest report, the company has revised its strategy and will now introduce only four EVs in India in the next 5-6 years. The home-grown automaker changed its plans as it expects annual sales of electric vehicles around 25.4 lakh by 2030, which is down from its earlier estimation of 30 lakh units. Let’s talk about the four upcoming Maruti electric cars in India in detail.

1. Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara

Unveiled at the Bharat Mobility Global Show in its production version, it will be launched next month in the Indian market. The e-Vitara will rival Hyundai Creta EV and MG ZS EV in our country. Based on the Heartect-e architecture, Maruti e-Vitara will be offered with two battery options of 49 kWh and 61 kWh. The company claims that it will return a range of 500+ km on a full charge.

It will be packed with a plethora of premium features such as 10-way power-adjustable driver seat, 18-inch alloy wheels, LED projector headlamps with Matrix LED DRLs, glass sunroof, 10.1-inch digital instrument cluster, ventilated front seats, rear seat armrest with cup holders, Harman sound system, 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, Suzuki Connect with 60+ functions, 7-airbags and Level 2 ADAS tech.

2. Maruti YMC Electric MPV

Maruti Suzuki will also introduce an all-electric MPV to rival Kia Carens EV in the Indian market. Expected to launch by mid 2026, it will be based on the same platform as the e-Vitara. The YMC e-MPV will also share the cabin, features and battery pack with the electric Vitara. It has been learnt that the all-electric MPV will also have a Toyota sibling, which will go on sale by late 2026.

3. Maruti Y2V Small Electric Car

Maruti Suzuki is developing a Tata Tiago EV and MG Comet EV rival for the Indian market. It will be based on the eWX concept which debuted at the Japan Mobility Show 2024. It is expected to arrive in the second half of 2027. Reports suggest that Maruti Y2V could house a 35 kWh battery pack with a range of 300+ km on a single charge. We expect more details on the same in the coming months.

4. Maruti Fronx EV

Maruti Suzuki is also working on a fully-electric version of the Fronx crossover. It will be solely aimed at Tata Punch EV which is sold in decent numbers in our market. The ICE version of the Fronx is already quite popular among the people in India, and hence, Maruti is intending to cash on it by presenting an all-electric version of the crossover. It is going to be the fourth EV model in the brand’s portfolio.
