Organon appoints Vivek Soares as country lead for India, South Asia

US-based healthcare firm Organon on Monday named Vivek Soares as its new country lead for India and South Asia.Soares brings over 20 years of experience in the biopharmaceutical industry, having held numerous leadership roles at both country and regional levels. He has led teams across markets, developed and executed strategies to increase sales and profitability, while building future capabilities.

In his previous stint, he served as strategic partnerships and business development lead for Organon Thailand. He has also held positions such as director, fertility business unit in Asia Pacific, head of tender and key account in Vietnam and senior marketing manager for women’s health covering India, Sri Lanka and Nepal.

“Organon’s markets across Asia Pacific is home to over one quarter of the world’s female population, and Vivek’s extensive experience in supporting the health of women across this region provides a strong foundation to also drive growth and success in India,” said Andreas Daugaard Jorgensen, managing director at Organon Asia Pacific.

Soares will take the reins from Anjan Sen, who will retire after 35 years in the biopharmaceutical sector, which includes 11 years with MSD and Organon. Sen was pivotal in setting up Organon’s operations in India and the neighbouring markets in South Asia while building the commercial organisation and business plan for India.
