Maruti Suzuki eVX will become the first electric car from the brand and it will go on sale in 2025 in India

Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) is planning to introduce its first all-electric car in India in 2025 and it will likely make its global debut late next year. It will be based on the Suzuki eVX concept unveiled at the 2023 Auto Expo earlier this year. The evolved version of the concept was showcased at the Japan Mobility Show 2023 alongside revealing its interior.

The eVX has been spied testing in India as well as Europe and it will carry global prominence as it will be exported to several international markets. The Maruti Suzuki eVX will also reportedly give rise to a Toyota sibling under their partnership. It must be noted that Toyota has revealed what has been dubbed the Urban SUV concept in Europe and it will spawn its affordable EV there.

The production version has been confirmed to be unveiled in the first half of 2024 and its specification will also be out by that time. It may as well preview Toyota’s midsize electric SUV based on the eVX for India but no official confirmation has been made yet. Back to the eVX, it will be powered by a 60 kWh battery pack with a claimed driving range of 550 km on a single charge.

It could get front wheel drive and all wheel drive configurations as well. The five-seater zero-emission SUV concept has been clearly explained in the video linked above. It gets a closed-off front grille with sleek LED headlights, Y-shaped LED DRLs, prominent black cladding on the bumper housing the skid plate, wide air inlet, horizontal LED lighting element, a slightly sloping roofline, black finished pillars giving a floating profile, etc.

Other visual highlights are an integrated roof spoiler, sporty alloy wheels, eVX writing on the sculpted tailgate, a prominent rear skid plate and triple LED taillight signatures. The concept has a length of 4.3 metres, a width of 1.8 metres and a height of 1.6 metres. The interior boasts a two-spoke steering wheel, large HVAC vents, a rotary dial, a panoramic sunroof, touch-based controls, and so on.

The Indo-Japanese manufacturer is expected to price the eVX competitively in India and it will take on the upcoming Tata Curvv and Mahindra XUV.e8.
