There are a lot of restaurants among the Wuyi Mountains in Fujian Province that offer the Zhu Xi family banquet. It’s believed to be a meal that Zhu Xi, a prominent 12th-century neo-Confucian philosopher, would have enjoyed with his family. The locally sourced ingredients are in keeping with Zhu Xi’s philosophy of moderation and eating what is grown close to home.
